Golden Strings Chapala Ajijic Lake Chapala

THE GOLDEN STRINGS OF LAKE CHAPALA, A.C., created in association with CREM is a non-profit organization similar to a sub-chapter S corporation in the U.S. which over the last ten years has been training indigent children in Mexico to read music and play violins, cellos, bass violins, violas, and guitars. They are trying to create a formal philharmonic orchestra from the same trained people base. They need:

4 French Horns

3 Oboes

2 Bassoons

6 Flutes

1 Set Of Kettle Drums

These instruments are expensive and difficult to find in Mexico. With the limited funds available they can try to purchase used instruments abroad or accept donated instruments or cash donations with which to buy them. We have also created a scholarship program to provide tuition, books, etc., for indigent children to attend high school (which isn’t free in Mexico). In addition to the requirement for being indigent the student must have a grade average of 80 in secondaria (jr. high) to qualify for the scholarship. Accepted students must maintain a grade average of 80 to remain in the program. Many of our current log of students have averages in the 90s. If you wish to make a monetary donation to either our music or scholarship programs, please make your check payable to The Golden Strings of Lake Chapala, A.C., and indicate to which program you wish it to apply (music and/or scholarship.) If you can help with any of these items, please contact:
